Frequently Asked Questions

  • Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture supports the body’s natural healing processes and enhances overall well-being. This holistic approach involves the gentle insertion of ultra-fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body, called acupuncture points, to stimulate the body’s own healing response. Each point is chosen based on your individual needs and corresponds to a specific energetic pathway to restore the body back to a state of balance.

  • Yes, acupuncture is commonly used to help reduce pain and improve overall function. Many people seek acupuncture for conditions such as back pain, neck pain, joint pain, headaches, and muscle tension. Acupuncture helps improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and encourage the release of the body’s natural pain relieving chemicals.

  • Chinese Medicine utilizes a holistic diagnostic approach, allowing us to treat a wide variety of health concerns.  Acupuncture can support many areas of well-being and beneficial in most cases. By addressing the root cause of imbalance, acupuncture is often effective in supporting both acute and chronic concerns.  If you have a specific question regarding your condition send us an email and we are happy to help.

In the rare case that acupuncture is not the best fit, referrals to appropriate healthcare professionals will be provided to ensure you receive the care you need on your healing journey.

  • No, acupuncture is relatively pain-free. The points are carefully chosen and needled at different depths and angles based on their location. You may feel a slight pinch when the needle is inserted that quickly subsides. Some areas of the body such as hands or feet might be a bit more sensitive, but over all, acupuncture causes little discomfort. Acupuncture needles are very thin. 220 acupuncture needles can be fit into the opening of a regular hypodermic needle for reference.

  • Your first acupuncture session is a relaxed and supportive experience. We’ll begin with a conversation about your health history, current concerns, and wellness goals. Based on this information, a personalized treatment is created just for you. During the treatment, very fine, sterile needles are gently placed at specific points on the body to support balance and natural healing.  You’ll rest quietly during the session and may leave feeling calm, refreshed, or energized.

  • You may wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. If needed, you may be asked to remove certain clothing items depending on the acupuncture point locations. This is always done in a private setting, and you will be provided with appropriate linens for coverage to ensure your comfort and privacy throughout the treatment.

  • Treatment frequency is unique to each patient and depends on your specific health concerns. Most see us weekly, though this varies based on individual needs. A personalized treatment plan will be discussed and established during your first visit.

For acute conditions, patients may begin to notice improvement after the first treatment. To help maintain these benefits and address the underlying root cause, additional treatments are generally recommended.

  • We do not accept insurance at this time. However, we are happy to provide a detailed receipt after your appointment that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
